Robbie Ellis (Williams) Whittenburg, 92, of New Castle, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014. She was born February 9, 1922 in Pickett County,TN the daughter of Cosby O. and Nannie (Conley) Williams.
Robbie went to high school 3 years at Byrdstown, TN and graduated at York Agricultural Institute in 1940. She married Cohen Whittenburg September 30, 1940. She was a member at Chanute Church while living on the farm then the Methodist Church in Albany, KY. Robbie moved to New Castle in 1950 and attended Ninth Street Wesleyan Church for many years where she had taught Sunday School. Presently she was a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church. She also worked for 15 years for Kumfy Togs.
She is survived by her husband: Cohen Whittenburg; a daughter: Carol Ann (Jerry) Pennell of Harlingen, TX; granddaughter: Page (Bart) Hines of Fort Worth, TX; a sister: Nola Armstrong of New Castle; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother: Willie L. Williams and a great nephew: Jackson York.
Services will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Charles Dugger and her granddaughter, Reverend Page Hines officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 5-7 PM Tuesday.
