Ronald Otto Sopha, 72, of New Castle, passed away Friday, April 22, 2016 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born May 18, 1943 in Columbus, OH the son of Herbert and Dorothy (McCoy) Sopha.
Ronald was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during Viet Nam conflict. He retired from Safelight Auto Glass in 2004 after 12 years of service. He was a member of Mt. Summit Christian Church. Ronald enjoyed woodworking, working with stained glass and loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Carolyn Jean (Wildey) Sopha; children, Debbie Davis of GA, Scott (Destiny) Sopha of KY, Dana (John) Schwalm of TX, Troy Sopha of AL, Christopher Sopha of TX; two step-children, Michael Duffy of NC, Amy (Vincent) Farruggia of NV; 13 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; a brother, Bob (Sharon) Sopha of NY; a sister, Sandy Price of VA; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in South Mound Cemetery Legion Hill. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
