Roy B. Ledbetter

Roy B. Ledbetter, 92, of Greenfield, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2014 at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born October 18, 1921 in Charlottesville the son of Frank B. and Ruth Ledbetter.

He retired from Pennsylvania Railroad Company following more than 30 years where he had dedicated his life to service on the railroad. Roy was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII and had a tremendous love for his God, country and family. He was admired by all that met him for his courage, bravery, and honesty. Roy was the rock of the family and hero to all that knew him. He attended the Charlottesville United Methodist Church and enjoyed horses.
Roy was a life long member of the American Legion Post #152.

He is survived by his daughter, Julie Ann Kvinge of Greenfield; granddaughter, Lauren Elaine Ward of Atlanta, GA; three nephews, Steve (Linda) Nelson of Knightstown, Tom (Sharon) Nelson of Greenfield, and Danny (Debbie) Nelson of Laurel, MS.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma June Ledbetter; sisters, Norvella Nelson, Patsy Fout; grandson, Walton Matthew Ward.

Services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Marianne Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Knightstown America Legion Post #152 and an active duty contingent of the U.S. Army. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Wednesday, September 10 at the funeral home.
