Ruby M. Derrick

Ruby M. Derrick, 89, of Knightstown, passed away Friday, November 20, 2015 at Springhurst Health Campus in Greenfield. She was born October 9, 1926 in Dupont, IN the daughter of Clarence and Allean (Cardinal) Sammons.

Ruby was a 1944 graduate of Spiceland High School and lived in the Knightstown area her entire life. She owned a restaurant in Knightstown for 7 years, worked at the American Legion for 11 years and worked at the Dollar Store prior to heart surgery. Ruby was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit #152 and the Knightstown Christian Church. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter, Janice (Tom) Barton of Knightstown; a son, Jerry (Linda) Jordon of Shirley; seven grandchildren, Traci (Scott) Morgan of Knightstown, Jana (Aaron) Burton of Knightstown, Tracy (Grant) Wilfong of Shirley, Rhonda Barton of Austin, TX, Laura (James) Turpin of New Castle, D.J. (Britt) Jordon of Eagle, Nebraska and Jon (Heather) Jordon of Shirley; 16 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Jordon; and her second husband, Paul Douglas Derrick.

Services will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Richard Thayer officiating. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Monday, November 23, 2015 at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in Glen Cove Cemetery.
