Russell V. Hall Jr. 86, of New Castle, Indiana passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center. Russell was born May 13, 1930 to Russell Sr. and Crystal (Ratliff) Hall near Lewisville, in Rush County, IN. He was a star basketball player at Raleigh High School, served three years in the U.S. Army beginning in 1955 and was a member of the UAW.
Russell worked as a plumber and pipe-fitter at the New Castle Chrysler plant for 28 years, retiring in 1992. He was well-known for his mechanical and plumbing skills; and never failed to offer assistance to all.
Russell was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Elsie Goodwin; brothers, Wilmer and John; sister, Thelma Flowers; grandson, Chris Ingram.
Russell is survived by his sister, Lula Haynes; sons, Steven Hall, Russell Hall III and Keith Beachy; daughter, Marilyn Hall; very close friends Sharon and John Dabney; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; sister-in-law, Lorene Hall and many, many cousins, nieces and nephews.
To celebrate Russell’s life, family and friends may gather at the Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2017 with Military Honors conducted by the VFW and American Legion. Private interment will be at South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition, in New Castle, IN.
