Thelma “Darlene” Gard, age 76, of Mooreland, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014 at her residence. She was born October 9, 1937 in Palestine, Illinois to the late John Allen Grieves and Louise (Kimberline) and Paul Tucker.
She had worked at Huntington Industries in New Castle, Rose Bowl Snack Bar and Perfect Circle Cafeteria. Darlene was a member of the Mooreland Friends Meeting and Mooreland Lady Lions Club. She enjoyed crafts, a couple of favorites were ceramic and leather. Darlene also enjoyed bowling.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Gary J. Gard of Mooreland; son, Scott (Tammy) Gard of Mooreland; grandsons, Jeremy Gard (fiancé, Tiffany Rinck) of Mooreland and Justin (Lauren) Gard of New Palestine; sisters, Marlene (Ray) Sexton of Lake Placid, FL and Marjorie (Bob) Shelton of Mooreland; sisters-in-law, Carolyn (Cecil) Cooper of New Castle and Jacque Gard of Mooreland; brother-in-law, Gerald “Buck” (Betty) Gard of New Castle; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Alan Gard; daughter, Nikki Gard; brothers-in-law, George and Gene Gard.
Services will be at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle, with Pastor Paul Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the funeral home.
