Wallace G. Perkins, 77, of Monticello, KY, and formerly of New Castle, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 while residing at Golden Years Nursing Home in Monticello, KY. He was born October 8, 1939 in Monticello, KY, a son of the late Ras and Roxie (Burgess) Perkins.
A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Wally completed his basic training (boot camp) at Paris Island, SC. He had owned and operated Wally’s Transmission for many years, where he was known in the New Castle community as a transmission expert. He also owned Hawk Investigating, working as a private investigator. Wally enjoyed collecting guns and working on cars.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Julie Steele of New Castle; granddaughters, Nikki Fleming (James Jackson). Misty Dale and Tammy Moore, and grandsons, Wyatt Steele and John Moore, both of New Castle; two sisters, Jewel Criswell and Shirley Lewis, both of Monticello, KY, and a brother, Rev. Paul (Geneva) Perkins of Monticello, KY; several nieces and nephews. Wally was also a mentor to Scott Davis and John Moore.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Perkins; son, Glen Perkins; step-daughter, Judy Moore, and step-son, Donnie Hancock.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Turning Point Life Center in New Castle with Pastor Matt Perdue officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the church.
