Wayne C. Monroe, 90, of Winter Haven, FL, passed away Monday, February 16, 2015 at Astoria Health and Rehabilitation Center in Winter Haven, FL. He was born June 29, 1924 in Oakwood, IL the son of Herbert and Beulah (Mott) Monroe.
Wayne was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II and was stationed in England. He retired from Delco-Remy in Anderson after 41 years of service. He has resided in Winter Haven, FL for the last 22 years. He enjoyed bowling and growing roses. He was a people person and enjoyed talking to everyone. He attended the First Nazarene Church of Winter Haven, FL.
He is survived by two sons: Donald Monroe, Dan (Donna) Monroe; grandchildren, Ross, Dawn, Heather, Jennifer; nine great grandchildren, Nathan, Allison, Haley, Creed, Mariah, Jeff, Emily, Mackenzie and Clay; a sister, Wilma (Harry) Runyan; a half sister, Sarah Nield; half brothers, Jim and Tom Monroe; a step brother, Jerry Rouse; two special friends, Donna Townsend and Jim Zentko; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Monroe; and a step brother, David Rouse.
Services will be at 11:30 AM Friday, February 20, 2015 at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel in Anderson with Pastor Steve Bradley officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel.
