Wendell D. Caldwell, age 74, of New Castle, passed away Monday, March 30, 2015 at his residence. He was born October 27, 1940 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Elmer Dolphus and Lillie Mae (Purvis) Caldwell.
A 1959 graduate of Walter P. Chrysler High School, he retired from Alleghany Ludlum following 24 years of service. Wendell enjoyed helping others and also enjoyed deer hunting, and in earlier years fishing and golf.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Kay Caldwell of New Castle; son, Kris (Elena) Caldwell of Indian Harbor Beach, FL; daughter, Brandy Anderton of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Sophia Caldwell, Wendell Caldwell, Jeffrey Morgan, and Emma Morgan; brothers, Herbert T. (Joanne) Caldwell of New Castle, and James P. (Janie) Caldwell of Kingston Springs, TN; sister, Betty Stonerock of New Castle; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Leo E. Caldwell; sisters, Justine Welch, Glenda Pace and Mary Ann Jones.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Condolences and memories of Wendell may be expressed at
