David R. Bennett

Artist… Fun-loving… Musician… are just some words that describe Dave Bennett.

David R. Bennett passed away Sunday, July 2, 2023 at his residence following a long illness at the age of 75. He was born May 29, 1948 in New Castle to the late Cecil and M. Irene (Godfrey) Bennett.

Dave was a graduate of Chrysler High School before becoming a locally renowned musician. In recent years, he worked at a law firm before retiring.

Dave was a talented guitarist with the Faith Band, where he played lead guitar.  Over his career, Dave recorded multiple albums; with his latest being “Out of The Blue”, a smooth jazz collection.
Dave was an avid reader. He was also an amazing artist with significant ability in woodworking and painting. In addition to his many talents, Dave will be remembered for his sharp wit, strong opinions and cooking skills.

More than anything, Dave was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend. He loved being with his family and taking trips together.  Dave is survived by the love of his life, Judy Bennett; children, Amy (Rodney) Thomas, Kelli Bennett, David Tyler (Aida) Bennett; grandchildren, Nicholas and Jessica Munson, Lea Orsini, Apollo Bennett, Tanner Sparks, Kiley Franklin, Courtney Collins, Anna and Lauren Dando; sisters, Barb (Joe) Campbell, Debbie Bennett and several nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister.

A memorial gathering will be from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Hospital. You may express condolences or share a memory of Dave at www.hinsey-brown.com .
