A. C. Smith

A.C. Smith, 92, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2020 at Heritage House in New Castle.

He was born December 25, 1927 in Huntertown, KY to the late Coy and Mallie (Claborn) Smith. His siblings include a twin brother, J.D. (wife, Justeen, both deceased) and brothers, Glen (wife, Willie) Paul (deceased), wife, Sue, Clifford (wife, Irene) and sister, Sherlie (JC Williams, deceased).

A.C. was married to Kathryn (Gasser, deceased) for 69 years and resided in Dunreith for 62 years. He retired from Chrysler Corp. in New Castle after 32 years of service. He also served in the U.S. Air Force in occupied Japan after World War II.

A.C. and Kate raised a family of son, Cleatus (Linda) of New Castle, son, Dale (Kathie, deceased) of Knightstown, and a daughter, Jan (Gary) McDaniel of Dunreith. Seven grandchildren include Valerie Smith (Julie) of Greensburg, Martin (Portia) Smith of Middletown, Nikki (Joel) Salinas of Indianapolis, Ryan (Alissa) Smith of Knightstown, Sara (Adam) Hollars of Dunreith, Eric (Mandy) McDaniel of Knightstown, Stacie (Rob) Chesher of Springport. Seventeen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren complete the family of A.C. and Kate.

He was also preceded in death by two great grandchildren, Austin and Autumn Smith.

The family would like to thank everyone at Heritage House for the care of our father. He will be missed.

Services will be at 10:00 AM Friday, February 21, 2020 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Darryl Denny, Eric McDaniel (grandson) and Brayden McDaniel (great-grandson). Military rites will be conducted by the Knightstown American Legion Post #152. A.C. will be interred with his wife in Glen Cove Cemetery, Knightstown, IN.
