Alan W. Baker, 57, of New Castle passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Henry Community Health. He was born April 25, 1960 in New Castle to the late Robert and Elsie (Wasson) Baker. He loved helping others and will be helping many families with the gift of organ and tissue donation.
Alan was a 1978 graduate of Walter P. Chrysler High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He received his Doctorate of Philosophy in religion on February 13, 2018. Alan was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed cooking, the outdoors, taking walks, working on his computer, volunteering at God’s Grain Bin and listening to the oldies music. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and he loved his dogs. He attended Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church.
He is survived by his daughters, Allison (Joe) Morton and Courtney (Wayne) Simons all of New Castle, grandchildren, Hunter Morton, Jett Simons, William Simons; brothers, Butch (Rebecca) Baker of New Castle and George (Sheli) Baker of Carmel, IN; nieces and nephews, Daniel (Emily) Jackson of Straughn, IN, David (Sarah) Jackson stationed in Singapore, Lindsey Baker of Dallas, TX, Brad Baker of Marion, IN, Whitney Baker of Marion, IN, Dustin (Cheyenne) Baker of Cambridge City, IN; and several cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Rodgers Baker and two grandchildren, Maverick Simons and Elizabeth Morton.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastors Steve Arnett and Paul Kirk officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. prior to the service.
