Alice Evelyn (Coy) Hiner, 90, of New Castle passed away Monday, January 28, 2019 at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center. She was born December 13, 1928 in Union County, IN to the late Hershel and Vera (Pentecost) Coy.
Alice grew up in Millville, Indiana and worked at Perfect Circle, where she worked in accounting and as a secretary for the engineers. There, she was also a part of a group called the Singing Secretaries. Before her declining health, she was an active member of Chicago Corner Church, serving as the Treasurer for many years. Alice was a bookkeeper at Payne Village in New Castle and retired from bookkeeping at Weiland’s Flowers in New Castle in 2010.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Chris Hiner and Chelsi Hiner both of Muncie; great-grandchildren, Dalylah and Cooper Hiner; a brother, James (Debbie) Coy of New Castle; sister, Irma Wade of Osgood; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Hiner; son, Tom Hiner; brother, Edwin Coy; sisters, Marjorie Charles and Louise Griffin; and brother-in-law, David Griffin.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Chicago Corner Church with Pastor Roger Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow in Brick Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 1 from 4-8 p.m. at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
