Allen Lee Smith

November 5, 1946 — December 16, 2020

Allen Lee Smith, 74, of Middletown, Indiana transitioned out of his earthly body on Dec. 16, 2020 at 5:21pm surrounded by love and family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Martha Smith, and oldest son, Roland J. Smith, all of Middletown, Indiana.

He is survived by beloved wife, Serlina J. Smith; sons, Kevin (Kayla) Smith of Brownsburg, IN and Loren (Staci) Smith of Mt. Juliet, TN; grandchildren, Alexander, Kinsey, Dalen, Jada, Blaine, Alana, Zachary, Maddox, Lily, Crew, Karsyn, and Kamden; great-grandson, Harvey; siblings, Sharon (Mel) Vancil of Antioch, California and Stan (Diane) Smith of Middletown, IN.

Allen was born on Election Day, November 5, 1946. He was the second child of Thomas and Martha and remembered childhood fondly with stories of jump contests from the outhouse and spending time at the family store. Some of his memorable accolades include salutatorian and class president of Middletown High School class of 1965, Eagle Scout, Corpsman for the United States Coast Guard, Wabash College graduate, and successful IRS agent for 35 years. Friends and family remember him as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Allen and Serlina were married for 47 years, just missing their 48th anniversary on January 19th. Allen was an avid reader, talented writer, and brilliant philosopher. He will be greatly missed.

At Allen’s request, there will be no public services held. Funeral services have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Services in New Castle. Burial will be at Mt. Summit Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Please express condolences or share a memory of Allen at www.hinsey-brown.com .
