Alvin Rickey Carter

Alvin Rickey Carter, 80, of New Castle passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at his home. He was born April 8, 1940 in New Castle to the late James and Flossie (Bailey) Carter.
A veteran of the US Air Force, Alvin retired from the US Post Office in 1997 after 30 years of service. He enjoyed collecting baseball cards and loved to spend time with his dog, Chinuk.
He is survived by two children, Rick (Michele) Carter of Carmel and Staci (Ron) Reece of New Castle; grandchildren, Blake (Heidi) Reece and Madyson Reece; great granddaughter, Riley; great grandson, Nolan; brother, James “Jim” (Delina) Carter; sister, Ermon Hinton both of New Castle and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Rose Carter; a brother Douglas Carter and a brother-in-law, Ray Hinton.
A Celebration of Life will be from 4 – 8 p.m. Friday, August 28,2020 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Memorial contributions may be given to the New Castle/Henry County Animal Shelter (no kill shelter). Donations may be mailed to New Castle/Henry County Animal Shelter 11 Midway Dr. New Castle, In 47362 or online donations at www.hcpetcarecampus.com .
