Alvin Harold Davis, 79, of New Castle passed away Monday, June 14, 2021 at Springhurst Health Campus in Greenfield. He was born February 3, 1942 in Shelby County, a son of the late Harold and Alice (Pettit) Davis.
He served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Army. Alvin retired from Delco Remy in Anderson after 36 years of service. He loved traveling to the beach and enjoyed farming and working outdoors in his yard. Alvin loved dancing, taking joy rides around town and was an avid racing and NASCAR fan.
Survivors include his children, James (Donna) Davis of South Carolina, Jerry (Charlotte) Davis of Greenfield, Patricia (Mike) Racobs of Greenfield and Priscilla Bevans ( Mark Kelly) of Shirley; grandchildren, James Jr, Shannon, Samantha, Joshua, Jacob, Justin, Elizabeth, Nicholas, Juddson, Cheyenne, Jasper, Travas, Latisha, Tiffany, Miranda and Levi; several great grandchildren; brother, Duane (Mary Ann) Davis of Florida; sisters, Kay Petry of Arlington and Ruth (Jerry) May of Arlington.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Davis; grandson, Trevor Cupp; Sister, Martha West; brother, Carl Davis; and nephews, Larry Davis & Stephen Petry.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by contingents from the American Legion, VFW and U.S. Army.
