Amy Edith Scott

Amy Edith Scott, 99, of New Castle passed away Monday, April 18, 2022 at Henry Community Health in New Castle. She was born January 10, 1923 in New Castle, Indiana, a daughter of the late John R. and Rhoda (Pardoe) Estelle. Amy was a 1942 graduate of New Castle High School. She married Mervyn Scott on June 1, 1948 for 52 years, before his passing in 2000. Amy worked for Bell Telephone as an operator for 15 years. She was a former member of First Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir. Amy was a member of the Ma Bells Women’s Club, Beta Sigma Phi and enjoyed golfing and Bridge Club. Survivors include two sons, Jan (Stacey) Scott and Bart Scott (Jeanni Hakes); grandchildren, Shawn (Krista), Patrick, David (Angela) and Paul Matthew (Jordan) Scott; great grandchildren, Max, Drew, Lauren, Harlyn, Elisabeth, Drew, Ethan, Ava and Brayden Scott; several nieces, nephews and a special niece, Beth (Jim) Bennett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband. Services will be 12:00 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Mark Herbkersman officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of services Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Henry County Community Foundation or the Henry County Hospice.
