Beckham "Joe" Joseph Herron

September 12, 1945 - October 15, 2021

Beckham Joseph “Joe” Herron passed away on October 15, 2021 at St.Vincent’s Hospital in Anderson, Indiana surrounded by his loved ones. Joe was born in Burkesville, Kentucky on September 12, 1945. His family later moved to Indiana where Joe graduated from New Castle High School in 1963. Joe had a variety of careers along the way such as a police officer in both New Castle and Knightstown, over the road professional truck driver and most recently a forklift operator at the Wal-mart Return Center located in Greenfield. Joe was an avid Indiana sports fan and you could find him glued to the television anytime IU basketball, the Pacers, or the Indianapolis Colts were playing. In his spare time, you could find him playing his computer games, listening to music, or simply sitting outside enjoying the sun. Joe was a loving husband, a proud father, and a devoted Papaw and will be deeply missed. Joe is survived by his wife Janet Chew Herron; children, Beckham Joseph Herron Jr. (Kelly Herron), Billy Joe Herron (Charlotte Richmond ), Cory Herron (Dawnuell Herron), Dylan Altman (Monica Altman), and Danielle Altman; grandchildren, Kayla Cooksey, Samantha Parrish, Joshua Herron, Beckham Joseph Herron III, Billy Herron, Tyler Herron, Autumn Herron, Sam Herron, Olivia Herron, and Stella Herron; 13 great grandchildren; and siblings, Robert Herron, David Herron, Tony Herron and Martha Carlin. Joe is preceded in death by his parents Beckham and Louise Herron; great grandson Bentley Cooksey; brother, Mike Herron; and in-laws George and Phyllis Chew. Services will be at 6:00pm Wednesday October 20, 2021 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown. Visitation will be from 3:00pm until the time of service on Wednesday.
