Benjamin Shamy Jr., Vietnam Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and loving husband and father, passed away peacefully at his home in Losantville with his family after a long battle with cancer the morning of Sunday, July 21, 2019 at the age of 70.

Ben was born on September 3, 1948 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey to Benjamin Shamy and Doris (Halifko) Shamy. He graduated from Perth Amboy High School in 1966. He then served as a United States Marine Corps sharpshooter in the Vietnam War from 1969-1970 where he earned a Purple Heart medal. After living most of his life in New Jersey, in 2003 he moved to Indiana with his wife, Cynthia and their daughter, Chelsea. Ben loved the serenity of country living, his land, and space to collect cars. He loved spending time collecting trophies at numerous car shows, and especially loved winning. He also loved traveling to Florida and fishing. He was known for his humor, great storytelling, and wonderfully stubborn personality. He was most proud of his United States military service and his loving family.
