Betty L. Linch

December 23, 1924 — November 10, 2017

Betty L. Linch, age 92 a lifetime resident of Knightstown, passed away Friday, November 10 at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis after a brief illness. She was born December 23, 1924 in rural Henry County, the daughter of the late Gertrude (Gertie) and Lloyd Scovell.

Betty was a 1942 graduate of Knightstown High School and was Secretary of her graduating class. She attended Butler University and later married William Judgement (Judge) Linch on November 24, 1945 and was happily married for 71 years. She worked for a short time with the Indiana State Department of Revenue and Attorney Wes Ratliff of Knightstown, but her greatest passion was to be a farmer’s wife and stay at home mom.

She was a very kind, loving, hard working woman who spent a lot of her time in the outdoors on the farm. She enjoyed reading a good book or the news of the day and working Sudoku and Crossword Puzzles. Betty was an avid Pacers and Purdue basketball fan.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of Knightstown, a longtime member of the Active and Associate chapters of Alpha Zeta Chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa. A 50 plus year member of the Order of Eastern Star where she served as a Worthy Matron, Charter Member of Jolly Workers Extension Homemakers Club and Historic Fortnightly Club of Knightstown.

She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Jeffrey W. (Janet) Linch of Knightstown; a daughter, Karen K. (Charles R.) Vise of Knightstown; three grandsons: Scot (Loretta) Moore of Greenfield, Erich Moore of Knightstown and Justin (Lisa) Linch of McCordsville; three great grandchildren, Hagan Moore, Austin Linch and Brody Linch; a great niece and several cousins.

In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband, William Judgement Linch.
