Betty Maxwell

Betty Maxwell, 101, of Knightstown, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2020 at Brandywine Golden Living in Greenfield. She was born December 5, 1918 in Ohio the daughter of Frank and Jane Mauck.

During WWII Betty worked at the hospital at Shepherd Field Air Force Base in Texas where her husband, James, was stationed. She was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church in Knightstown and Tri Kappa for many years. She and her husband were on the founding committee of the Knightstown High School Alumni Association. Betty retired from the Charles A. Beard School Corporation after many years of service. After retirement, she and her husband enjoyed traveling which included Alaska and Hawaii. She was an avid worker of crossword puzzles.

Betty is survived by her son, James (Nora) Maxwell; son-in-law, James Garrett; grandchildren, Jeff (Kim) Maxwell, Julia Graham, Tomi (Todd) White and Tim (Jenna) Maxwell; great grandchildren, Brock Maxwell, Brandon (Hannah) Maxwell, Breanna Maxwell, Malerie Graham, Cale Graham, Zane White, Danica White, Brianna Page, Scarlett and Dorothy Maxwell; and a very special niece, Fran Mauck.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 70 years, James Maxwell; daughter, Nancy Garrett; siblings, Francis Richey, Tom Mauck and Mary Katherine.

At Betty’s request, services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Glen Cove Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Condolences and memories of Betty may be shared at www.hinsey-brown.com .
