Brian Keith Young

Brian Keith Young, 53, of New Castle, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2020 in his home following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He was born April 1, 1967 in New Castle, a son of Roy R. and Carolyn Dorene (Dickerson) Young.

Brian attended New Castle Schools and served in the Indiana National Guard for several years. He owned and operated New Age Flooring and Construction for several years. Among his pastimes were mushroom hunting, listening to all genres of music, and following NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon. However, his greatest was fishing, which he dearly loved and fished as close to every day as possible with his two best friends, Jerry Overton and Ron “Smokey” Massengale.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Karen S. Young of New Castle; father, Roy R. Young of New Castle; step-daughter, Taylor Groce (Nick Sarten) of New Castle; step granddaughter, Alayna Sarten of New Castle, (who he was “crazy” about); sister, Melissa Owens (Shannon Boggs) of New Castle; two brothers, Timothy Young and Christopher (Suzzi) Young, both of New Castle; two nieces, Allison (Christian) Bradley of Ft. Hood, TX and Savanah Young of New Castle; nephew, Trenton Owens of New Castle; mother-in-law, Sonie Atkinson of New Castle; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorene Young; maternal grandparents, James R. and Maggie Lou Dickerson; paternal grandparents, John R. and Gertrude Young, and his father in law, Farris Gene Atkinson.

Visitation for Brian will be from 4-8 p.m., Friday, July 3, 2020 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Cremation will follow. Memorial contributions may be given to the Brian K.
