Bro. Danny R. Shelton, 68, of Kennard, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 21, 2020, while at his home. He was born November 20, 1952 in Somerset, KY, a son of the late Robert E. and Betty J. (Collins) Shelton.
A 1970 graduate of Knightstown High School, Danny also attended Boyce Bible College in Indianapolis in the 1980’s, after surrendering to preach the gospel. Faithful, compassionate, selfless and giving are just a few words that describe him. He loved his grandbabies and loved people in general, never saying unkind words about anyone.
He retired from Pre-Coat Metals in Greenfield after over 42 years of service. His calling was to preach the gospel, so he served as Associate Pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Greenfield, pastor of Westside Baptist in New Castle, Associate and Interim Pastor of Kennard Baptist Church, and was presently pastor of Community Baptist Church in Knightstown (Raysville), where he had pastored for the past 16 years. He was proud to be a supporter and life-member of the NRA. Church and family were his life’s passion.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 50 years, Cindy Shelton of Kennard; four children, Susan Shelton (Ronnie Phipps) of Kennard, Mark (Melissa) Shelton of New Castle, Matthew Shelton of Kennard and Sarah (Bobbie) Derrick of Kennard; five grandchildren, Caleb Holder, Mason and Maddie Shelton, Brantley and Beau Derrick; great grandchild, Brandyn Mayhugh; two sisters, Carolyn Garner of Jamestown, KY and Mary Lou Stephens of Columbia, KY; one brother, Eddie (Donna) Shelton of Greenfield; mother-in-law, Peggy Henderson of Greenfield; several nieces and nephews, aunts, cousins, and brothers and sisters in the Lord.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and best friend, Ralph Henderson.
Services will be at 11:00 AM Monday, December 28, 2020 at Community Baptist Church in Knightstown (Raysville) with Pastors Larrel Boling and Eric Boling officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-6 PM on Sunday at the church. Memorial contributions may be given to the Community Baptist Church, Lottie Moon Fund, 6643 Old National Rd., Knightstown, IN 46148. Due to Covid-19 and the governor’s mandate, face coverings will be required. Condolences and memories of Danny may be shared at
