Brucie Johnson, 62, of Indianapolis, passed away Friday, August 14, 2020 in her daughter’s home following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 16, 1958 in Columbus, OH, a daughter of the late William B. McQueen and Loretta (Tilley) McQueen.
For several years, Brucie worked as a school bus driver for the Columbus, OH City School Corporation, a job that she dearly loved. A loving mother, she was dedicated to giving care love to her handicapped daughter, Burnadette. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, music, and was a vivacious dancer. Amongst many, her true passion was supporting and loving her family, including attending as many of her grandchildren’s events as possible.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Brandy Ladd (Matt Owens) of Indianapolis, Brian (Davida) Gard of Beech Grove, and Burnadette Strickland of Scottsburg, IN; grandchildren, Coryndie, Corissa, Cierra, Shelbi, Nathan, Matthew and Mason; great grandchildren: C.J.and Emma; two sisters, Loretta Dillon of Scottsburg and Joyce (Earl) Hammons of Kennard; a brother, William McQueen of Columbus, OH; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Vickie Ritchie, and a grandson, Zachary Gard.
Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, August 20, 2020 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 12:00 p.m. on Friday at St. Joseph Cemetery in Lockbourne, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be given to the GO2 Foundation for Lung Cancer, P.O.
