Carolyn J. Hardwick

Carolyn J. (Sciscoe) Hardwick, 93, of New Castle passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at The Waters of New Castle. She was born January 24, 1929 in Bloomington, Indiana, a daughter of the late Ora W. and Ersa (Duncan) Sciscoe.

Carolyn retired from City of New Castle where she worked in the waste water treatment plant for 19 years. She was formerly employed at W.T. Grant Company and S.S. Kresge in New Castle. Carolyn was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and Women’s Democrat Club. She had been a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader. Carolyn enjoyed reading and especially spending time with her family.

Survivors include four sons; John (Janet) Hardwick of New Port Richey, Florida, Kenneth (Katherine) Hardwick of New Castle, Philip (Cindy) Hardwick of Lafayette and David Hardwick of New Castle; one daughter, Loralee (Hardwick) Underwood of Englewood, Colorado; four grandsons, John Charles Hardwick, James Hardwick, Zachary Underwood and Brendan Underwood; six granddaughters, Ashley Hardwick, Shirley Hardwick, Melissa Hacker, Mandi Hardwick, Aimee Penticuff and Emma Hardwick; seven great grandchildren, John Alexander Hardwick, Makena Wallace, Eli Stearns, Karleigh Prince, Wesley Prince, Adisun Penticuff and Lennyn Penticuff; and numerous nieces & nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles William Hardwick in 2004; and two brothers, Robert Sciscoe & Donald Sciscoe.

Services will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Danny Goddard officiating. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.
