Charles "Charlie" Edward Sloneker

Charles “Charlie” Edward Sloneker, 74, of Shirley, Indiana passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Henry Community Health. He was born on January 19, 1949 in Connersville, Indiana, a son of the late Dale Sloneker and Dorothy Looper. Charlie was raised on the family farm in Connersville along with his siblings, Don Sloneker and Phyllis Weber.

Charlie was a 1967 graduate of Connersville High School. After moving to Henry County, he was employed with various businesses before retiring from the Indiana Department of Transportation following 27 years, where he was a Supervisor of Building and Grounds. He enjoyed electrical work, was an outdoorsman, loved fishing as well as hunting where he belonged to several hunting clubs including the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association. Charlie enjoyed being a flea market vendor. He was a member of the St. James Episcopal Church for many years where he was an active volunteer and a Eucharistic Minister, serving many terms on the vestry.

Charlie is survived by his loving wife, Pam; sons, Mark (Valerie) Sloneker and John (Cheryl) Sloneker; stepchildren, Scott (Amy) Hill and Laura (Booker) Woods; grandchildren, Avery and Dylan Sloneker, Bri Coleman, Paige (James) Hewitt, Lindsey Hill, Austin Hill, Jasmine Woods, Asia Woods; great grandchild, Olivia Woods and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Weber.

A memorial service will be at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2023 at St. James Episcopal Church. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church.
