Christopher Lee Murphy “Murph or MurphDawg”, 45, of Hillsboro, Indiana, and formerly of New Castle passed away unexpectedly at his home in a house fire. He was born September 28, 1976 in New Castle, Indiana to Wendall L. Murphy and Thelma L. (Trent) Murphy.
Chris attended New Castle Chrysler High School until his junior year and then went back to school to get his diploma. He was always considered the funny guy or the class clown, he had a great since of humor and he had a big heart. He loved his children and was always saying he was blessed in many ways. He had many struggles he was learning to overcome and was looking forward to helping other men who had various struggles as well. He was waiting on a halfway house for men to be completed close to where he was living so he could volunteer as a mentor to help others. Chris would have been awesome at this it had become a passion for him as he had much compassion for those struggling as well.
Survivors include four children, daughter, Ashlyn (Austin) Sexton York and granddaughter, Karissa York, Chris loved being a grandpa, Karissa called him “gran-pa”, daughter, Kieryann (Murphy) Northacker and son, Caden Murphy, both from Lafayette, son, Christopher Hamilton of New Castle; father, Wendell (Sheryl) Murphy of Indianapolis, mother, Thelma L. (Trent) Murphy and John McElroy of New Castle; several uncles, aunts and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John & Myrtle Murphy, Nollie E. South and Charlie Baker and Tye Trent.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Jeff Hughes officiating, Christian friend and mentor. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens in New Castle. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. Thursday until time of services at the funeral home.
