Corda Rae Malone

June 15, 1919 — January 21, 2018

Corda Rae Malone, 98, a resident of New Castle went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Glen Oaks Health Campus in New Castle. She was born June 15, 1919 in Wayne County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Prentice and Amanda (Franklin) Edwards.

Corda finished 9th grade in the Wayne County schools and completed her schooling in the New Castle school system. She married the love of her life, Goble C. Malone, on October 18, 1942. They enjoyed 55 years of marriage before his death on June 27, 1998. Corda was a housewife, but was previously employed at Firestone Corp. in Noblesville for several years. She was a 75 year member and the oldest member of her church, First Assembly of God in New Castle where she was active in the Women’s Ministries Council, Sunday school teacher for 35 years and co-group leader for the Missionettes.

Corda was an avid reader and enjoyed sharing her church literature and the Bible with others. She was a founding member of Foursquare Gospel Church in New Castle. She also enjoyed gardening and preserving the goods of her labor. Spending time with her family was very important to her and she will be dearly missed by them. Corda loved to travel and spent many winters in Florida with her granddaughter. Her favorite trip was to the Holy Lands, where she walked the streets where Jesus trod and was baptized in the River of Jordan.

Survivors include a daughter: Barbara (Bill) Wagner and a son: Wayne (Mary) Malone, both of New Castle; a granddaughter: Cheryl (CL) Turner of Boca Raton, FL; a grandson: Tom (Jena Wagner) Martin of Chesterfield; three great grandchildren: Miranda (Emad Ibn) Elbanna of Egypt and their son, Omar, Madison Martin, currently attending Ball State University in Muncie; a great grandson: Dylan Martin of Connersville; a sister: Bula Duvall of Albany, KY; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by seven brothers and four sisters-in-law: Leonard and Mildred Edwards, Leo and Willie Edwards, Dillard Edwards, Newell Edwards, Hershall and Hattie Edwards, Oris Edwards and Carl and Myrtle Edwards, all of Wayne County, Kentucky. Also, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 26, 2018 at First Assembly of God Church in New Castle with Reverend Stephen Gallaway officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday, January 25 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Memorial contributions may be given to the First Assembly of God, 3600 S.
