Dahl E. Petry, 78, of Arlington went to heaven to be with his Lord on Saturday morning, February 27, 2021 at his residence. He was born November 6, 1942 in New Castle, son of Quentin and Joyce (Howard) Petry.
Dahl was a 1960 graduate of Carthage High School and worked at Ford Motor Company for 38 years. He was a long time Reserve Sheriff Deputy in Rush and Hancock Counties. Dahl was a member of Center Christian Church and was a longtime member of the Rush County Fair Board and Community Foundation. He was also a lifelong farmer and enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his mother, Joyce Petry; his wife of 57 years: Kay Petry; two sons: Warren (Cheyanne) Petry and Scott (Diane) Petry, both of Greenfield; grandchildren: Joshua (Alex) Petry, Kyle (Lauren) Petry, Connor Petry, Keenan Petry, Kirby (Evelyn) Petry, Karter (Lacey) Petry and Avery Hale; great grandchildren: Carson, Kaylynn, Mitchell, Kyla, Rylee and Foster; siblings: Karen (Bob) De Renard, Jan (Roy) Blessinger, Evelyn (Wayne) Sammons and Elaine (Phil) Steele; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Petry; 3 brothers, Gary, Lowell and Harold Petry.
Services will be at 10:30 A.M. Friday, March 5, 2021 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Darryl Denney officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington East Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, March 4 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rush County Community Foundation, Stephen Petry Memorial Fund, 117 N Main Street, Rushville, IN 46173. Due to COVID-19 and the governor’s mandate face coverings are required. Condolences and memories of Dahl may be shared at www.hinsey-brown.com .
