David Franklin "Frank" Thomas

David Franklin “Frank” Thomas, 95, of New Castle passed away Monday November 16, 2020 at Henry County Community Health. He was born February 14, 1925 in Greenville, OH, a son of the late David William and Maybelle (Haley) Thomas.
Frank was a 1943 graduate of Greenville High School and a veteran of WWII and the United States Navy. He spent his working years farming and employed as store manager with Frazier Supply Company (Carquest) with locations in New Castle, Muncie and Union City. Frank retired in 1992 and moved to Florida with his wife, Dorothy. They had recently moved back to New Castle in July of this year.
Frank was a member of the Sulphur Springs Masonic Lodge, past Worship Master, Sulphur Springs Order of Eastern Star, past Worthy Patron, past member of VFW, Lions Club, Optimist Club, American Legion and Mt. Summit Christian Church. Frank was most recently a member of the Lakeport Christian Church in Florida. Frank was an avid woodworker. His specialty was wooden parrots that he made for his family and friends at the park in Florida, where he and Dorothy lived.
Frank is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dorothy (Cochran) Thomas of New Castle; daughters, Jennifer (Jim) Talbott and Deidra Biltz both of Indianapolis; son, James (Jane) Thomas of Connecticut; daughter-in-law, Susan Thomas of Rushville; step-son, Terry (Carolyn) Carnes of Florida; sister, Rosie Longfellow of Greenville, OH; grandchildren, Monica (Jeff) Henkel, Amanda (Tim) Walls, Brianne (Michael) Plewke, Erika (John) Peggs, Joanne (William) Wheatley, Jenna (Christopher) Amirault, Jeremy Carnes, Lindsay Carnes Rossman and Kaitlyn Carnes Welsh and Rick Carnes; several great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Pat, Jeanie and Sandy; daughter-in-law, Sondra Carnes; brother-in-law, Richard Carnes.
In addition to his parents, Frank is preceded in death by a son, David Thomas; brother, Bill Thomas and step-sons, Gene Allen Carnes and Steve Carnes.
Services will be private and have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Interment will take place in New Greenville Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be given to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, 801 Eighteenth Street NW, Washington, DC 20006-3517.
