David Michael Hilbert

David Michael Hilbert, 79, of New Castle passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at his residence. He was born February 19, 1941 in Henry County, Indiana, a son of the late Jesse and Bessie E. (Gray) Hilbert.

David graduated from New Castle High School in 1959. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from Chrysler Corporation in New Castle after 36 years of service. David enjoyed fishing, hunting, building & flying RC model airplanes.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Rosemary Hilbert; daughters, Angie (Jim) McDonnell of Anderson and Missy Hilbert of New Castle; sister, Thelma Neal of New Castle; brother-in-law, Bill Schraer of New York; several nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews; and a special friend of many years, Doug Adams.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Schraer; a brother, Dillon Max Hilbert and nephew, Michael Hammond.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Eric Boling and Phil Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday until time of services at the funeral home. Due to COVID-19 and the governor’s mandate face coverings are required.
