Deborah S. Ayers

Deborah S. Ayers, 71, of New Castle, passed away unexpectedly Friday, March 26, 2021 at Henry Community Health. She was born October 3, 1949 in Muncie, daughter of the late John and Myna Geraldine (Mongold) Oliphant.

A 1967 graduate of Muncie Southside High School, she married Mark A. Ayers in 1979 and they lived several places including Dayton, OH, Iceland, Minot, ND and Omaha, NE. After returning to Indiana, she began working at Revco in 1995, and then worked at CVS in New Castle until her retirement in 2015.

She loved cats and immersed herself in U.S. Presidential history, visiting many Presidential tourist attractions over the years. She also enjoyed going to the casinos.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, whom she married April 7, 1979, Mark A. Ayers of New Castle; three sons, Philip Hofherr of Muncie, Michael Hofherr of Muncie, and John (Jennifer) Hofherr of West Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Krystal Hofherr of Grand Forks, ND and Hailey Hofherr of West Fargo, ND; an aunt, Phyllis Losey of Losantville.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Rev. Mark Herbkersman officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Cemetery in Muncie. Visitation will be from 11:00-1:00 p.m. Thursday prior to the service.
