Dick Stanley Smith, 72, of New Castle passed away Monday, March 8, 2021 at his residence. He was born February 9, 1949 in Greencastle, Indiana, a son of the late Argle and Mary (Sims) Smith.
Dick met the love of his life, Joyce Baucom at the Ford Plant in Connersville, they were married in 1977. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He had been employed as a Full Service Attendant at Wake-Up Gas Station. He also worked at various factories and the Speedway Gas Station.
Survivors include two sons, Argle (Kristen) Smith and Derek Cottrell; daughters, Iris Cottrell, Linda Bowers, Glenda (Travis) Pass and Marlow Smith; seven grandchildren, Ronnie Bowers, Rusty Bowers, Randy Bowers, Rustina Raines, Darren Pass, James Smith & Christina Rouland; and many great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Baucom Smith in 1999; and a brother, Argle Eugene Smith.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, March12, 2021 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Gene Bennett officiating. Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. until time of services Friday. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army, American Legion and the VFW. Due to COVID-19 and the Governor’s mandate, face coverings are required.
