Dixie L Jones-Murray

Dixie L. Jones-Murray, 80, of New Castle, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, June 2, 2021. She was born May 14, 1941 in Knightstown, IN.

Dixie served for 8 years in the U.S. Army, serving a non-combative duty during Vietnam. She obtained her bachelor’s degree from Columbia University when she was in her 40’s. She and her husband, William Murray owned and operated Bittersweet Memories Antique Shop in Knightstown for many years.

She is survived by three children, Jefferson Travis Jones, Misty D. Jones, and Brandon Levi Jones, all of New Castle; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, JoAnne (husband, Dick) Hale of Florida and Kathie Tompkins of Knightstown; a brother, Ronnie (wife, Christy) Howard of Mays; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Walter Howard and Opal Tompkins, she was preceded in death by a son, Marty Lee Jones; first husband, Vernon C. Jones; second husband, William Murray, and two brothers, Tommy Jackson and Buddy Howard.

Memorial services will be at 3:00 p.m., Friday, June 11, 2021 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
