Dolores “Emaline” Raney, 92, of New Castle passed away quietly in her sleep on the morning of Friday, January 21, 2022.
She was born September 16, 1929 in Cumberland City, Kentucky and was the daughter of the late Roy Bell and Addie (Catron) Bell.
Emaline (her preferred name) moved with her family to New Castle when she was 10 years old. She married her first husband, Fred Charles Pryor in 1947. They were happily married for 58 years until his passing in 2005. Emaline remarried in 2014 to her second husband, Glen Raney.
She was a devout Christian all her life and devoted much of her time to church related activities. Emaline served on the church board, taught Sunday school, was church treasurer and helped raise money for missionary work on several occasions.
Emaline’s greatest joy was her family. She loved listening to Christian music and occasionally singing or playing the piano for church services. Painting, arts and crafts, as well as gardening/canning were also favorite pastimes for her during different stages of her life.
Survivors include her husband of 7 years, Glen Raney; two sons: David (Vicky) Pryor of New Castle and Fred C. (Alexis) Pryor of Shelbyville; a granddaughter: Katy (Dustin) Benjamin of John’s Island, South Carolina; a great-granddaughter: Olivia Pryor of New Castle; a sister: Marceline Pierce of Elkhart; a niece: Krista (Steve) Manes of Middletown; numerous other nieces and nephews living in various locations across the country.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband: Fred Pryor; her only grandson: Travis Evan Pryor; three brothers: Isaac, Raymond and Walter Bell and a sister: Bonnie Warinner.
Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Rev. Gene Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
