Donna Cummings

Donna Cummings, 78, of New Castle passed away on Friday, September 28, 2018 at IU Methodist Hospital following a brief illness. She was born August 7, 1940 in Albany , KY , a daughter of the late Robert and Della (Stewart) Vitatoe.

Donna served as a member of the Grand Avenue Baptist Church in New Castle, and was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she had served as a Sunday School teacher and Church Clerk. She was an influence on countless people, encouraging them to live for Jesus through international mission work and her gentle nurturing touch.
An accomplished seamstress, she had worked at Huntington Industries, Troy Lane Apparel and Comfy Togs. She clothed her family with her precise creations. She was known for her beautiful gardens, her chicken and dumplings and cornbread always brought the family together.
Donna loved and nurtured her family, and was always willing to accept anyone as her own.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Jeff (Kathy) Cummings of Spiceland, Tina Scanlan of Pendleton, and Pam (Alan) McCammack of Knightstown; nine grandchildren, Joshua McKinzie of Pendleton, Rachel (Ryan) Filbrun of Pendleton, Elizabeth (Elijah) Eley of New Castle, Jeremiah (Kylena) Cummings of Spiceland, Sarah McCammack of New Castle, Zachery (Ashley) McKinzie of Greenfield, Emily McCammack (Patrick Follen) of Mountain View, CA, Adam (Erica) Scanlan of Anderson, and Aaron Cummings of New Castle; great grandchildren, Abby Eley, Raegen Cummings, Mady Olson-McKinzie, Ryleigh Young, McKinley Mahan, Leah Eley, Ava Hankins, Elayna McKinzie and Allie Cummings.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, H. Kenneth Cummings in 2014, and siblings, Porter, Robert, and Sam Vitatoe, Margie Smith and Anna DeRossett.

Services will be at 11:00a.m. Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastors Charles Dugger and Steve Dugger officiating. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at the funeral home.
