Dorothy E. Ryan

Dorothy E. Ryan, 92, of New Castle, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at Hickory Creek of New Castle. She was born August 24, 1927 in New Castle, a daughter of the late Herschel and Eva (Van Demis) Hinshaw.

Dorothy was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in New Castle for many years. She loved playing BINGO, trips to Las Vegas, cooking, keeping an immaculate house, and raising her family. She worked in several nursing homes in New Castle as a C.N.A. including Rest Haven and Heritage House. She also did a lot of in-home care.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Connie (Jeffrey) Childs of Barrington, IL, Frank (Jill) Ryan of New Castle, Joe (Carla) Ryan of Brownsburg, Bob (Jeannie) Ryan of Detroit, Mary Godsey of New Castle, Glenn Jr. (Sandra) Ryan of New Castle, and Glenna Moles of New Castle; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; one sister, Carolyn (Gary) Grim of Mt. Summit; two brothers, Carl (Vickie) Hinshaw of Mt. Summit and Gerald (Linda) Hinshaw of Pendleton; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn F. Ryan; son, Mike Ryan; sisters, Margaret, Bess, Eula Mae, and Betty; brothers, Harold, Bob, Dick, Charlie, Bill, and Joe.

Private visitation and services will be on Saturday at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with burial following in St. Anne Cemetery.
