Dwaine "Ed" Hugh Edington

Dwaine “Ed” Hugh Edington, 84, of Knightstown, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at Golden Living Center - Brandywine in Greenfield. He was born February 1, 1935 in Vigo County a son of Hugh and Irene (Symmonds) Edington.

Ed was a high school graduate of State High School in Terre Haute, IN. A veteran of the US Army, he retired as a Sergeant First Class following 22 years of service to our country. During his time in the military, Ed was in the medical corps as a dental lab technician and continued in that line of work when he entered the private sector. Also, while in the Army, Ed was a teacher of ceramics, pottery, and other forms of art. Ceramics and pottery were passions that Ed continued throughout his whole life along with photography, painting, drawing, fossils, jewelry making and wood working. Ed had a love for mineralogy and studying the beauty of minerals through a microscope called micro-mounting and as a member of the 500 Earth Sciences Club. Ed had a brilliant eye for detail and carried a strong desire for learning and a great curiosity of nature of all kinds. Ed was also known to have a great sense of humor and always had a good joke to tell.

Ed is survived by three children, Dwaine H. (Lisa) Edington II of Highlands Ranch, CO, Susan J. Braunschweig of Indianapolis and David K. Edington of Knightstown; five grandchildren, Victoria R. Edington of Highlands Ranch, CO, Anne J. (Max) Reagan of Fishers, Ryan M. Braunschweig of West Lafayette, IN, Timothy D. Edington of Fishers, and Kyle W. (Hillary) Edington of New Castle; great grandchildren, Kylie, Kyson and Kynnedi; a sister, Chirl (Mike) West of Clinton; brother, Jimmy (Becky) Edington of Terre Haute; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Marlene (Davis) Edington; sisters, Beverly Wallace, Bernice Morrow and Bobbi Jo Long.

Visitation will be from 3-7 PM Monday, October 28, 2019 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM with Mark Herbkersman officiating. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #152 and an active duty contingent of the U.S. Army. Burial will be in Center Cemetery.
