Earl H. "Bud" Surber

June 1, 1927 - March 23, 2022

Earl H. “Bud” Surber, 94, of New Castle passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Glen Oaks Health Campus. He was born June 1, 1927 in Tateville, KY to the late Otis and Flonnie (Walker) Surber. He retired from Borg Warner in Muncie following 42 years of service, and was a member of UAW #287. Bud was a veteran of the US Air Force. He was a great devoted family man and loved by his kids and grandkids. Bud loved to joke and have a good time. He was a good Christian and over the years had attended Springport Christian Church, Greensboro United Methodist Church and Grace Baptist Church. He is survived by his children, Terry Lou (William) Meyers of Hamilton, OH, Tonna Harp of New Castle, and Tim (Penny) Surber of Zionsville; grandchildren, Kellie Ann Meyer of FL, Ivy Meyer of Hamilton, OH, Judy Meyer of Hamilton, OH, Angela Harp of New Castle, Jeff (Stacy) Harp of New Castle, Jim (Sarah) Surber of Watertown, CT, Ty (Erin) Surber of Westfield; 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great great-granchildren; brother, Carl (Velta) Surber of New Castle; sister, Bonnie Coats of New Castle; several nieces, nephews and a dear friend, Betty Goble of New Castle. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Madge E. Surber; sisters, Mae Stigall and Dorothy Maynard; brother, Jim Surber; son-in-law, Robert Harp; great grandson, Charlie Harp. Services will be held at 3:00pm Saturday March, 26th at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Brian Neal officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Springport with military honors conducted by the American Legion and the US Air Force. Visitation will be from 12:00pm until the time of service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
