Estill Ray Criswell

Estill Ray Criswell, 91, of New Castle passed away Friday, July 6, 2018 at his home. He was born March 7, 1927 at his home in Monticello, KY to the late Alvin and Amanda “Mandi” (Simpson) Criswell.

He was employed as a self-employed contractor and retired in 1978. Estill was a custom home builder and home remodeler in the Henry County area. He was a member of the Westview Church of the Nazarene where he had served on the board, church maintenance, helped with the children’s programs and was a prayer warrior. Estill enjoyed hunting, fishing and wintering in Lake Okeechobee, FL. He had a great sense of humor and loved camping, boating and picnicing with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Winnie Roena Criswell, children, Sharon (Tony) Teague of Kokomo, Nancy (Gary) Nash of Noblesville, Micah Criswell of New Castle, Dorothy (Gerald) Groce of Kodak, TN and Rebecca (Mark) Murrell of Kearney, MO; grandchildren, Dr. Shawn (Amy) Teague, Ryan Nash, Heather (Patrick) Rubeck, Dr. Sarah (Chad) Sears, Rebekah Hill, David (Tammy) Criswell, Nathan (Jessi) Groce, Jeannette (Luke) Cassell, Alex (Ashley) Murrell and Eric (Danielle) Murrell; 10 great-grandchildren and 2 on the way; brothers, Fred (Shirley) Criswell, Rex (Darlene) Criswell, Gene (Joyce) Criswell, Timothy (Donna) Criswell and Joe (Pat) Criswell; sisters, Louise Crabtree, Evelyn (Bill) Williams, Lorraine Hurt, Barbara (Ed) Mullens, Rose Mary (Bill) Fisher, Kay (Steve) Watkins and Darlene Runyon; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Criswell, daughter-in-law, Rachel Criswell and brother-in-law, Wendell Crabtree.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2018 at Westview Church of the Nazarene with Pastors Paul Riddle and Jim Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m. Sunday, July 15th at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
