Eston E. Dooley, 78, a resident of New Castle and formerly of Greenfield passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Glen Oaks Health Campus. He was born August 24, 1942 in Indianapolis to the late Paul and Lois L. (Nicoson) Dooley.
Eston retired from Mt. Vernon Schools as mathematics, science and computer teacher after 36 years of service. He graduated from Concannon High School in Terre Haute and then earned his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Indiana State University. Eston was a member of the Spiceland Church of the Nazarene where he was involved with audio/visual work and also helped with the youth. He enjoyed traveling with family and friends, and working with children’s activities, especially with his nieces and nephews..
He leaves to cherish his memory, sisters-in-law, Linda (Charles) Stroud of Spiceland and Jackie Thompson of Terre Haute; aunt, Lillian Graves of Centerpoint; cousin, Carl Graves of Centerpoint and other cousins; nieces and nephews, Scott (Allison) Stroud of Lewisville, Marcia (Stephen) Landon of Cambridge City, Doug (Brandy) Stroud of Carthage, Kent (Danielle) Stroud of Deputy, Dustin Thompson of Sheridan; great nieces and nephews, Brooke, Austin, Lauren, Grace, Dylan, Gunnar, Lucy, Vada, Mason, Cambree, Drew, Zoe, Noah, Jonah, Lilliana, and Linkoln; great-great niece: Jalynn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Sondra Dooley; brother-in-law, Randy Thompson; and a great niece, Emily Stroud.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 25, 2021 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastors Allen Southerland and Josh Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. Sunday, January 24 at the funeral home. Due to Covid-19 and the governor’s mandate, facial coverings are required.
