Eula F. Pedersen

Eula F. Pedersen, 95, a resident of New Castle passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Springhurst Health Campus. She was born November 17, 1926 in Wayne County, Kentucky to the late Jerry M. and Mary Ethel (Ragan) Sexton.

A homemaker, she had attended Park Place Free Methodist Church in New Castle. Eula was the matriarch of the family and helped raise many of her nieces and nephews. She had formerly bowled in a bowling league in New Castle and enjoyed quilting, crocheting and embroidering. Other hobbies included working puzzles, her flower garden and cooking. She was well known for her delicious potato salad. Above all, Eula loved spending time with her family and had a great sense of humor.

Survivors include four children: Leon Chowning of Redington Beach, FL, Charles (Carolyn) Chowning of North Carolina, Russ (Sandy) Pedersen of Muncie and Ruth (Kevin) Ayers of Greenfield; a daughter-in-law: Linda Chowning of Springport; thirteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; two brothers: Stanley Sexton of Racine, WI and Mancel Sexton of New Port Richey, FL; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles H. Chowning, her second husband of 46 years, Herman Pedersen; three sons: Herman Pedersen, Jr., Roy Chowning and Donald Chowning; two daughters-in-law: Daleene Chowning and Donna Chowning; five brothers and three sisters.

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle, Indiana with Pastor Jay Vincent officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 2 at the funeral home.
