Eva Coleen Turpin

January 4, 1935 — June 27, 2021

Eva Coleen Turpin, 86, of Greensboro passed away Sunday, June 27, 2021 at her residence. She was born January 4, 1935 in Byrdstown, Tennessee to the late George H. and Lydia Magnolia (Pemberton) Lee.

Coleen was a 1953 graduate of Kennard High School. She had worked for Charles A. Beard School Corp. at Knightstown High School and Kennard Elementary School for 17 years. She attended Greensboro Church of the Nazarene for many years. Coleen was an avid reader and loved caring for and spending time with her family.

She is survived by five sons, Joseph A. (Beth) Turpin, of Greenfield; Jon B. (Linda) Turpin of Cambridge City; George Scott (Beth) Turpin of Seymour; Stephen (Liz) Turpin of Etowah, NC; James (Laura) Turpin of Greensboro; two daughters, Debra (Pat) Fausset of Wilkinson and Lee Annette (Danny) Douglas of New Castle; 19 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; sister, Nelle Wallace and brother, Hugh (Carol) Lee Middletown; brother in law, Kedric Wallace of Spiceland and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold R. Turpin; grandson, Andrew Robert Turpin; sisters, Betty Stonerock, Doris Wallace, Bertie Lee; an infant brother, Willis Lee; brothers in law, Carl Stonerock, Donald Wallace and Lloyd Turpin.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2021 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Danny Douglas and Rev. Gene Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Hicksite Cemetery in Greensboro. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 1 and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family wishes that a monetary donation be made to one of Coleen's favorite organizations, New Castle Henry County Public Library Bookmobile or the Hancock Health Foundation-Women Helping Women Program , which provides mammograms and other women’s health services and education for uninsured or under-insured women.
