Frances D. Vincent, 93, of New Castle passed away Monday, October 1, 2018 at Henry Community Health. She was born February 2, 1925 in Albany, KY to the late Robert and Verlie (Stearns) Dickerson. She has been a resident of New Castle for over 65 years.
She was a 1943 graduate of Clinton County High School. Frances graduated from Lindsey Wilson College and taught school during World War II. She attended Western Kentucky State University. Frances was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, DAV Auxiliary and Public Employers Retirement Association. She received the Sagamore of the Wabash, Indiana’s most prestigious award, for her accomplishments. She was a teacher for 8 years and retired from New Castle State Developmental Center on December 31, 1993 after 40 years of service. Frances enjoyed spending time with family, reading and playing the piano. She loved Sunday school and was the secretary of the class for many years.
She is survived by a son, David E. “Eddie” (Barbara) Vincent of New Castle; sisters, Iva Lee Summer of Albany, KY, Lena Mae Dickerson of Albany, KY, Elizabeth (Sam) Saunders of Columbia, KY, Virginia Burke of FL; brothers, Cordell (Mattielou) Dickerson of Albany, KY and James (Mary) Dickerson of Paris, KY; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie E. Vincent and a brother, John Q. Dickerson.
Services will be 5:00 P.M. Friday, October 5, 2018 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Norwood Kreuzinger officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-5:00 P.M.
