Fred Thompson, 72, of Mooreland passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at his residence. He was born August 24, 1944 in Mt. Vernon, Indiana.

Fred worked for over 30 years at The Star Press in Muncie and was a member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, gardening and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Jason, Troy, Chris and Cheri Thompson; 12 grandchildren; nieces, Shawna Malone, Carrie Stearns; nephew, Casey Beckner; companion, Deborah Davis and her daughter, Stephanie Clark.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerry Thompson.

Visitation will be 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with a short remembrance ceremony following at 4:00 p.m. Military honors will be conducted by contingents of the US Army, American Legion and VFW. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fred Thompson Memorial Fund, c/o Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, 3406 S. Memorial Drive New Castle, IN 47362.
