Gatha Craig

Gatha Craig, 89, a resident of New Castle passed away Sunday, June 23, 2019 at her home following a brief illness. She was born June 11, 1930 in Monticello, KY to the late Ernest and Martha (Pierce) Smith.

A resident of New Castle since 1948, she retired from Modernfold Corp. after 40 years of service. Gatha was a member of UAW Local 2119 and enjoyed her flower garden, baking and word search puzzles. She especially loved spending time with her family.

Gatha was preceded in death by her first husband: Wendell Tucker; second husband: John Craig, a son: David Tucker, a daughter: Sharon Tucker, two brothers: Ralph and Ray Smith and a sister: Loretta (Smith) Kennedy.

Survivors include her brother: Jimmie Smith of Montpelier; her son: Donnie (Janet) Tucker of New Castle; two daughters: Tonia Blake (Fiancé: Danny Simerly) and Lana Tucker, both of New Castle; daughter-in-law: Elaine Tucker of Monticello, KY; grandchildren: Carter (Kathy) Tucker of Monticello, KY, Joey (Larissa) Tucker of Lexington, KY, Shawn (Rachel) Tucker of Monticello, KY, Amy (Colby) Early of Daleville, Jeff (Brittany) Blake of Fishers and Jamie (Dan) Hullings of Michigan City; several great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 25 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society,5695 W. 96th St., Ste 100, Indianapolis, IN 46278.
