Gene V. Wise

Gene V. Wise, 67, of New Castle, went to be with the Lord Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Hickory Creek. He was born December 23, 1951 at home near Albany, Kentucky a son of William Kimble and Nina Virginia (Kearney) Wise.

Gene attended New Castle Chrysler High School and later completed his GED at age 51. He retired from Modernfold following 31 years of employment. Gene was a member of Whittier Lane Baptist Church and involved in many activities and building projects. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but especially loved spending time with the “lights of his world”, his grandchildren. He loved being with his family and teaching his grandchildren to fish and go camping.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cheryl A. Wise of New Castle; daughter, Lauri (Brian) Kendall of Columbus, IN; grandchildren, Sarah Kendall, Riley Kendall, and Grace Kendall; siblings, Jack Wise of Straughn, David (Pam) Wise of Mooreland, Don (Belinda) Wise of New Castle and Carolyn Sue (Phil) Conner of Muncie; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Wise and infant brother, Billie Wise.

The family would like to thank the staff and residents at Hickory Creek, Bethany Cares and Sondra Brattain for the compassion and care Gene received.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Doug Keppel officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 5.
