Geneva M. Murphy, 85, of New Castle passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Greenfield Healthcare Center. She was born April 23, 1934 in Henry County, Indiana, a daughter of the late William Floyd and Enola (Wesley) Hopkins.
She worked at the New Castle State Hospital for many years in housekeeping and as a patient aide. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and loved reading her Bible every night. She loved spending time with her family, reading, cooking, spending time outdoors and doing crafts.
Survivors include her children; Jimmy Murphy of Salt Lick, Kentucky, Quincey (Stacey) Murphy of Nashville, Tennessee, Deanna (Denny) Neal of New Castle, Kelly Murphy of Salt Lick, Kentucky, Janet (Julie) Murphy of Greenfield and Cheri (Tony) Lorton of New Castle; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Judy (Otto) Raines and Evelyn Stahl; and several nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; children, Larry, David, Johnny, Pearlie Murphy; grandson, Dustin Murphy; great grandson, Phillip Murphy; brothers, Willious Hopkins, William Hopkins and Wilburn Hopkins; and a sister Waunetta Burks.
Services will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Danny Goddard officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery.
