Gerald "Wayne" York

Gerald “Wayne” York, 78, of New Castle passed away Friday, November 9, 2018 at Henry Community Health. He was born August 10, 1940 in Jasper, Missouri to the late Hugh York and Faye (Bird) York-Dirksen.
He retired from Chrysler Corp. in 1994 after 30 years of service. Wayne formerly managed Kentucky Fried Chicken in New Castle. He is a member of the First Church of the Nazarene where he served on the church board and as usher, greeter and communion steward. Wayne loved helping others and always put others first. He enjoyed fishing, especially with his grandchildren, fixing things and tinkering in the garage.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mildred “Millie” (Claywell) York; four children, Jerry (Lorri) York of New Castle, Sherry Allen of New Castle, Dennis Allen of Indianapolis and Gary (Jill) Allen of New Castle; grandchildren, Tiffany (Alan) Godfrey, Zach Mohler, Jazlyn Poe, Chelsea (Cory) Winkhart, James Dawling and Jeret Anderson; great-grandchildren, Madison and Dustin Hill, Gracie and Austin Godfrey, Aiden Mohler and Camden Winkhart; brother, Harold York of Corpus Christi, TX, Glynn (Mary Lou) York of Joplin, MO, Bonnie Fanning of Tulsa, OK, Wilbur Dirksen of Washington, Ralph (Dorothy) Dirksen of Kansas City, KS; sister-in-law, Wanda York of Joplin, MO.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his step-father, Louis Dirksen, daughter, Pamela Sue Anderson; siblings, Dean York, Melvin Dirksen, Gerald Dirksen and Dorothy Dirksen.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Danny Goddard and Rev. Dave Humble officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m. Monday, November 12th, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be sent to the First Church of the Nazarene Tabitha House, 1727 Grand Ave., New Castle, IN 47362.
