H. Ray Butler

August 25, 1944 — May 14, 2017

H. Ray Butler, 72, of Knightstown, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Henry Community Hospital. He was born August 25, 1944 in Haldeman, Kentucky a son of John and Stella (Egan) Butler.

Ray was a 1962 graduate of Knightstown High School and retired from Delco Remy Division of General Motors, Anderson, in 1995 after 30 years of service. He was also employed at Knightstown Academy and transported vehicles for Morgan Drive-Away and ITI. He was a former member of New Castle Moose Lodge. Ray loved hunting, fishing, bowling, traveling and motorcycling. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and great grandkids. He was a wonderful husband and dad.

He is survived by a son: Jamie (Sherry) Butler of Knightstown; two granddaughters, Kristin (P.J.) Johnson of Monrovia and Ashley (Jonathan) Shull of Knightstown; seven great grandchildren, Jason, Kaitlyn and Bradley Creason, Aurora, Joseph and Jeremiah Ray Shull; step great granddaughter, Kinzie Johnson; brothers, Carl (Ruth) Butler, Hayden Butler and Harold (Janet) Butler all of Knightstown; sisters, Charlene (Paul) Jensen of Knightstown, Sheila (Richard) Rawlins of Knightstown, several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Darlene (John) Bauer of New Castle, Olene Wilson of New Castle, Josie (Gene) Rains of Sulphur Springs, Joyce Butler of Spiceland; brothers-in-law, Phil Jackson of Knightstown;

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Lesa (White) Butler; siblings, Naomi Jackson, Arnold (Gloria) Butler, Leatha (Eddie) Redmond, Leon (Kay) Butler, Richard (Pat) Butler, and Johnny (Violet) Butler; brother-in-law, Jimmy Wade White; sister-in-law, Irene (Rob) Lee.

Services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association of Indiana, 115 W Washington St. Suite 1180 S, Indianapolis, IN 46204.
